Common Questions
What should I wear to the photo shoot?
Outside: Wear a mixture of solid colors with different light and dark hues. Make sure the colors blend well with others. Examples: Light Jeans and a black shirt or khakis and a blue shirt.
Studio: I use a black or white backdrop. Good colors to wear are solid colors. Bring one black shirt (v-neck is best) and one lighter shirt (like royal blue). Jean jackets and jeans look great.
Group Portraits: Make sure everyone wears solid colors and that they blend well with each other. Jeans and white shirts or jeans and black shirts work well. If there will be many families, each family should coordinate with their immediate family.
EVERYONE...Bring a change of clothes!!
Glasses: If you wear glasses, it's best to take them off. Do not wear darkening lenses. The best option for those of you wearing glasses, is to stop by your Optician and get frames without lenses. Should you still decide to wear the glasses, touch up rates apply to remove glare (for studio shots).
Hair/Makeup: Great hair and makeup makes ALL the difference in your photographs! That's why I have arranged relationships with two very talented image specialists: Deborah Ritch, 303-905-0811, www.attheranchspa.com; and Bailey Rainey, 720-299-5417. Deborah can do full hair/makeup; Bailey can do blow-dry and makeup. If you are interested in getting your hair or makeup done, please let me know when you make the photo shoot appointment, and I will coordinate.
How do I get the shots that I want?
By providing me a list of a few shots that you want, you will be assured that I will make sure and get these shots before the shoot is over.
What about the weather?
Weather is really not a problem unless it is actively snowing or raining. Actually, cloudy conditions are preferred. If, however, the ground is wet, I will provide a waterproof blanket to sit on. If the weather makes outdoor shots impossible, we can go to my studio. I use natural light in my studio if at all possible. Also, there is a park nearby (if the weather lets up).
Can I bring my dog?
Pictures with dogs are great, but can be tricky because they (obviously) like to move. If we are doing the photo shoot at a place other than your backyard, your dog will want to explore and not sit for pictures. The best shots to do with dogs are ones where we are in your own backyard and you or your family are interacting with the dog rather than looking at the camera. These shots are fun, playful and casual. If we are shooting away from home and your dog is calm and well trained, sure bring your dog, otherwise, it’s best to keep him home. Also, make sure and bring a leash and a bag!
How long do the sessions last?
An average photo shoot will take about 30–45 minutes. You may certainly bring a change of clothing (two changes for H.S. Seniors).
What about proofs?
For your convenience, and because we use the newest digital technology, client proofs are provided via a website. Kelly Weaver Photography does not supply physical proofs. Feel free to forward the link to friends and family! Website proofs will remain for two weeks. After the two-week period, the proofs are removed from the website. Orders are due on or before the deadline. If more time is needed, there will be an additional fee of $25.00 per week, and clients must notify Kelly Weaver before the proofs are removed form the website. If no notification is made, the proofs will come off the website, and there is an additional $25.00 charge to get the proofs back up on the website. The proof website link will be emailed to the client within 10 days after the photo shoot. A return email is requested for verification of delivery. Within that email, there will be a list of additional print prices, framing discounts and other important information.
How long until I get my final prints?
Your final prints take approximately three weeks from your order date (does not allow mailing time).
What about re-touching?
Acne, wrinkles, bags under eyes, age spots, are examples of things easily touched up.
Is there a reservation fee to book my appointment?
A reservation fee of $50.00 is required to book your appointment. The fee is due within 24 hours of making the appointment. The reservation fee is non-refundable and is applied to the photo shoot/package you've chosen. A credit card number with expiration date (Visa or MasterCard) or check payable to "Kelly Weaver Photography" are accepted to hold your appointment.
What if I have to re-schedule or cancel my appointment?
A one-time transfer of your session time may be applied, if notice is given within 48 hours of the original appointment. However, depending on the season, the new appointment may be several weeks from the original date. If client does not show for the appointment and does not call within 48 hours prior, no other time will be granted and client will lose the reservation fee.
